CHARLES I wanted to begin by thanking everyone who is helping celebrate my brother's life because as you know, nobody likes to party like Charles likes to party. Someone said life is what you make it and nobody proved that better than Charles. He did more in 27 years than most people do in a lifetime. He is my inspiration that there is nothing in the world like having a sibling. I wanted to take a moment to share a few experiences that bonded us together. When we were 2 and 6, we had this kitchen. Actually, it was a plain, white cabinet, and he would color on scrap paper with a green crayon to make peas for my dolls, and he played with me in this cardboard house for hours. As we got older, and he was in high school, he, unofficially, initiated me into his gang of friends by taking me to my first concert. He, Sean and Matthew showed me the meaning of true friendship. My most recent memory is just this past Christmas. We had a joke about the gift that keeps on giving-right on to somebody else. It just so happened that I received two of the same CD, so I gave one to him and told him that it was not a Christmas gift-just something I had picked up and thought he would like. A few days later, I confessed and he had a hilarious moment of irony. The gift that keeps on giving sums up Charles to me. Although, there is a hole in my life, he has filled my heart forever. |
